Job summary

Cooley LLP seeks a Conflicts Staff Attorney to join the Business Intake and Conflicts (Specialized Conflicts) team. The role ensures compliance with ethical obligations and firm risk policies, supporting onboarding and risk management for new clients and matters.

You will draft screens, waivers, and engagement terms while researching corporate affiliations and relatedness. Ideal candidates have a JD, strong written/oral communication, and law-firm conflicts experience; willingness to work

Qualifications

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel as required.
• Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours as required.
• Experience in conflicts resolution or defense of conflicts in a large law firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and jurisdictional differences.
• Analyze and resolve conflicts of interest for new business and hires.
• Draft ethical screens, conflict waivers, and risk-management provisions.
• Assist with client engagement terms and outside counsel guidelines.
• Conduct advanced research on corporate affiliations and relatedness.
