Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a Self-Perform Estimator to contribute to bid and estimating activities with a primary focus on concrete work.

You will perform quantity take-offs, develop assumptions, and price projects by coordinating with subcontractors and architects. The role requires a degree in Construction Management or Engineering and at least two years of estimating experience, with strong math, analytical, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CM or Engineering with 2+ years of estimating experience.
• Knowledge of construction principles and concrete work.
• Synthesize cost data into conceptual estimates.
• Read and interpret drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
• Experience with estimating tools OST, WinEst, Bluebeam, BIM software.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs and assist in pricing and bidding of projects.
• Develop and document assumptions for estimates and apply them to takeoffs.
• Clarify scope with architects/consultants and document changes.
• Review milestone documents for pricing opportunities and value contrasts.
• Participate in internal estimate reviews and present findings to management.
• Assist with final estimate assembly for owner presentation.
• Organize bid information post-bid for future reference.
• Support field operations with price changes as needed.
• Direct and coordinate with subcontractors and prepare subcontract scope exhibits.
