The Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and reviewing precast concrete erection and fabrication drawings, ensuring all designs meet company standards and project specifications. The role involves creating detailed shop drawings, conducting structural analysis, collaborating with project teams, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Drafting:
Create detailed drawings that comply with contract documents, including scope, specs, civil design drawings, RFIs, and sketches.
Develop organized shop drawings with sufficient detail to ensure smooth fabrication.
Visualize project layouts and fabrication details with precision.
Communicate with team members to ensure project accuracy.
Prepare detailed plans, specifications, and drawings for precast concrete elements using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
Collaboration & Support:
Collaborate with project teams to develop precast concrete designs that meet structural, architectural, and cost-effectiveness requirements.
Provide support to Project Coordinator and Customers as needed.
Assist Project Managers and other team members to ensure project goals are met.
Communicate effectively with the team to address design-related queries and provide technical support.
Structural Analysis & Calculation:
Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the integrity and safety of precast concrete elements.
Select appropriate materials and components for precast concrete production, considering strength, durability, and sustainability.
Ensure designs meet safety standards and are feasible for construction.
Quality Assurance:
Review and ensure all designs adhere to company design standards and project requirements.
Conduct comprehensive QA/QC of drawings to ensure high-quality outputs.
Assist with field inspections and provide reports.
Project Support:
Assist in estimating costs for precast concrete elements, considering materials, labor, and equipment.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design accuracy and quality.
Provide technical support during the construction phase, including addressing design-related queries and conducting site visits to ensure designs are executed as planned.
Qualifications:
Required:
B.S. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (highly )
2+ years of experience in the construction, precast industry, or related field.
Proven experience in reviewing architectural and structural plans, creating erection and fabrication drawings, and performing QA/QC.
Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints/plans.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Working knowledge of ERP/Inventory Control Software, preferably Titan.
Proven ability to multitask and manage project deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) licensure.
ACI / PCI Certification.
Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure.
