Job summary

Compass Group USA is seeking a Concessions Cook for UW–Madison events, including football games. You will prepare and portion meals in a fast-paced stadium environment, ensuring quality and food safety.

You must be available for most UW–Madison football games and Kohl Center events; training, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential assets. Anticipated start date: as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Culinary experience preferred; training available for right candidate.
• Must have or be willing to obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certification.
• Must have or be willing to obtain Alcohol Safety Certification.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork are essential.
• Stamina to lift 20–40 lbs and stand long hours at events.
• Must be available for UW–Madison football games and Kohl Center events.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality food items from standardized recipes to meet production schedules.
• Portion and serve meals with correct sizes and temperatures.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, wash dishes, and store/discard excess food safely.
• Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and organized, minimize waste.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment; report malfunctions immediately.
• Collaborate with team, management, and guests to ensure smooth operations.
• Follow HACCP guidelines to maintain food safety and hygiene.
• Attend safety meetings and follow practices to maintain a safe environment.
• Perform other duties as needed during events.

Pay Range: $18.00 to $22.00 (+ a $5 additional hourly rate on football gamedays!)

Key Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation: Prepare high-quality food items based on standardized recipes to meet production schedules and ensure proper delivery times.
• Portioning & Service: Serve meals or prepare items for delivery with correct portion sizes, ensuring food is at the right temperature and visually appealing.
• Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen by cleaning work areas, washing dishes, and properly storing or discarding excess food following safe food-handling procedures.
• Food Storage & Organization: Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and well-organized. Ensure all food and supplies are stored according to safety standards to minimize waste.
• Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain kitchen equipment following safety and operational guidelines. Report any equipment malfunctions or accidents immediately to supervisors.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively with fellow team members, management, and customers, ensuring a smooth kitchen operation during fast-paced event hours.
• Safety Compliance: Follow HACCP guidelines to maintain food safety and hygiene, and ensure all food items are served at the correct temperature.
• Safety & Training: Attend in-service and safety meetings, and consistently adhere to safety practices to maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as needed to ensure the success of food service during events.

Qualifications:

• Culinary Experience: Previous culinary experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
• Certifications: Must have or be willing to complete ServSafe Food Handler Certification and Alcohol Safety Certification.
• Positive Attitude: A strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 20-40 lbs and work on your feet for long periods during events.
• Availability: Must be available to work all UW-Madison football games and a majority of events at the Kohl Center Arena.
