Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking an advanced computer vision engineer to design and optimize real-time target detection, tracking, and pose estimation for weapon sight systems on resource-constrained embedded platforms.

You will refine camera calibration pipelines, develop multi-sensor fusion methods, and balance accuracy with latency and power usage while collaborating with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. A security clearance is eligible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental computer vision concepts: camera projection models, image distortion, rigid transformations, multi-view geometry.
  • Prior experience with geometric computer vision (SLAM, camera calibration, stereo vision, photogrammetry, or similar).
  • Experience developing or deploying algorithms in resource-constrained or embedded environments.
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration across hardware, software, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
  • Eligible to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop real-time target detection, classification, and tracking models optimized for low-compute embedded environments on Qualcomm-based platforms.
  • Build and refine camera and sensor calibration pipelines for multi-sensor weapon sight assemblies, including thermal and electro-optical sensors.
  • Develop pose estimation and localization algorithms using bundle adjustment, feature detection/matching, homography fitting, and multi-view geometry.
  • Profile, optimize, and deploy vision models on constrained hardware, managing trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and power consumption.
  • Create testing and evaluation frameworks, analyze field and production data, and establish performance metrics for detection/tracking under operational conditions.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate vision software into production weapon sight hardware.

Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building next-generation precision targeting systems. This role involves developing and optimizing real-time computer vision algorithms for a software-defined weapon optic running on resource-constrained embedded platforms, including target detection, tracking, sensor calibration, and pose estimation.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop real-time target detection, classification, and tracking models optimized for low-compute embedded environments on Qualcomm-based platforms
  • Build and refine camera and sensor calibration pipelines for multi-sensor weapon sight assemblies, including thermal and electro-optical sensors
  • Develop pose estimation and localization algorithms using bundle adjustment, feature detection/matching, homography fitting, and multi-view geometry
  • Profile, optimize, and deploy vision models on constrained hardware, managing trade-offs between accuracy, latency, and power consumption
  • Create testing and evaluation frameworks, analyze field and production data, and establish performance metrics for detection/tracking under operational conditions
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing teams to integrate vision software into production weapon sight hardware
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python
  • Strong understanding of fundamental computer vision concepts: camera projection models, image distortion, rigid transformations, multi-view geometry
  • Prior experience with geometric computer vision (SLAM, camera calibration, stereo vision, photogrammetry, or similar) in academic or professional work
  • Experience developing or deploying algorithms in resource-constrained or embedded environments
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration across hardware, software, firmware, and manufacturing teams
  • Eligible to obtain security clearance
Nice to Have
  • Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Experience with industrial computer vision systems, counter-UAS applications, or precision targeting systems
  • Hands-on experience with Qualcomm processors/platforms (e.g., Snapdragon) or similar embedded vision SoCs
  • Experience with multi-camera and multi-sensor (EO/IR) systems and associated calibration techniques
  • Proficiency with mathematical/optimization packages in C++ and Python (e.g., Ceres, Eigen, OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy)
  • Experience training, optimizing, and deploying detection/tracking models with TensorRT, SNPE, ONNX Runtime, or similar inference frameworks for edge deployment
  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or embedded Linux environments
  • Familiarity with numeric computing platforms such as MATLAB, Octave, or Jupyter

Base salary $132,000–$198,000 USD annually. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers. Top-tier benefits package available at little to no cost to employees, including health, recovery, and comprehensive coverage.
