Job summary

Lawton Public Schools is seeking a technician to maintain district personal computers, peripherals, networks, and district websites, as well as assist in designing and maintaining school web pages and multimedia software applications.

The role involves supporting district phone systems and intercom and multimedia equipment, with responsibilities to load software and assist staff in using Windows XP, Windows 7 and Microsoft Office. A background in electronics and PC repair is valued.

Qualifications

  • High school transcript or GED required.
  • Background in electronics, PC hardware/software and networks.
  • One year experience in operation/training in personal computers preferred.
  • Experience or training in computer repair is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft networks and various networking protocols (IPX, TCP/IP, LocalTalk, Ethernet).
  • Oklahoma driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Load and maintain software necessary for personal computers and web development.
  • Install and maintain district administrative PCs, peripherals and networks.
  • Load/maintain software for administrative tasks on PCs.
  • Assist district employees with Windows XP, Windows 7, Microsoft Office Pro and similar apps.
  • Work with networking environments and protocols (IPX, TCP/IP, LocalTalk, Ethernet).
  • Be familiar with phone/intercom systems and AV кабling for multimedia equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Hardware Services.

Job Objectives: To effectively maintain district personal computers, peripherals, networks, district websites, and assist in the design and maintenance of individual school web pages and other multi-media software applications. Assist in the maintenance of district phone systems, intercom and other multi-media equipment. Minimum Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Background in electronics and personal computer (PC clone/Apple/Macintosh) hardware and software applications and networks.
  • To perform this successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, license, certification and/or abilities required.
  • One year experience in operation/training in personal computers preferred.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Applicants employed in this position must be able to perform the following tasks and functions which are fundamental to the purpose of the position. Load and maintain software necessary for personal computers and web development. Work effectively with advanced software applications for video production, ID card production, audio and video compression for the web, and postal systems.
  • Installs and maintains district administrative personal computers, peripherals and networks. Coordinates these activities with the district's Instructional Computer Coordinator where instructional and administrative areas overlap.
  • Loads and maintains software necessary to accomplish administrative tasks on personal computers.
  • Assist district employees in the use of computers and software, to include Windows XP, Windows 7, Microsoft Office Professional, and similar applications
  • Working experience/knowledge of various computer networking environments, protocols and topologies such as IPX, TCP/IP.
  • Be familiar with phone and intercom systems and cable required for Audio Visual systems.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Director, Hardware Services.

  • Working experience/knowledge of network administrative software such as Microsoft networks.
  • Working experience/knowledge of various computer networking environments, protocols and topologies such as IPX, TCP/IP, LocalTalk and Ethernet.
  • Much hold valid Oklahoma Driver's License with a good driving record. Technician will be expected to drive personal vehicle to various job sites on occasion.
