Job summary

Northeast State Community College in Tennessee is seeking a Computer Technician in the Client Services department. The role installs, upgrades, configures, and troubleshoots computers, peripherals, and software to support campus operations.

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, you will help manage printers, projectors, and network devices, while assisting with inventory and end-user support for students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or 2 years’ work experience with CompTIA A+ certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computers and peripherals.
  • Experience with wireless tech, multimedia, antivirus, Microsoft 365, Windows and macOS, desktops and laptops.

Responsibilities

  • Install, upgrade, configure, troubleshoot, and repair computers, peripherals, and software.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair networked and local printers and scanners.
  • Assist with inventory of printer supplies and devices for faculty, staff and students.
  • Assist with laptop and mobile device checkout and tracking.
  • Assist with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of network equipment and software.
  • Assist end-users with technology issues.

Salary:$44,940 - $49,883, dependent on education and experience

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Client Services, the computer technician is primarily responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting computers, peripherals, and software.

Job Duties:
  • Install, upgrade, configure, troubleshoot, and repair computers, peripherals, and software applications
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair networked and locally connected printers and scanners
  • Assist with inventory of printer supplies, toner, and related consumables
  • Assist with inventory of laptops and mobile device checkout for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist with the checkout, return, and tracking of laptops and mobile devices for faculty, staff, and students
  • Assist with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of computer network equipment and software
  • Assist end-users with technology issues
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field with emphasis in hardware and networking OR two years’ work experience and CompTIA A+ certification.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing computers, computer peripherals, computer network equipment and cabling, and software.
  • Work experience to include wireless technology, multimedia technology, virus and anti-spam protection techniques, Microsoft Office 365, latest versions of Microsoft Windows and MAC operating systems, and desktop and laptop computers.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in a higher education environment
  • Working knowledge of current AI technologies and tools, including generative AI, with the ability to use these technologies securely and in accordance with organizational data protection and other institutional policies.
