We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for precision machining operations. The CNC Programmer will interpret engineering drawings and CAD models, determine efficient machining processes, create and modify CNC programs, and work closely with machinists and engineering teams to ensure high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, and other CNC machining equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, CAD models, and manufacturing specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding methods, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies.
- Generate programs using CAM software and verify toolpaths through simulation.
- Set up and prove out programs on CNC equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize existing programs to improve cycle times, tool life, part quality, and machine efficiency.
- Collaborate with machinists, manufacturing engineers, quality personnel, and production supervisors.
- Ensure CNC programs meet dimensional, quality, and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation for CNC programs, tooling, setup sheets, and revisions.
- Support first-piece inspections and assist with resolving production or quality issues.
- Follow company safety procedures and manufacturing standards.
- Stay current with CNC machining technologies, tooling, programming methods, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or machining/programming certification preferred.
- 3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing or precision machining environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including milling and/or turning.
- Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
- Knowledge of G-code, M-code, CNC controls, and machine operation.
- Strong understanding of cutting tools, materials, speeds, feeds, and machining techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming multi-axis CNC equipment.
- Experience with high-precision or complex components.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens, or similar CNC controls.
- Experience with DNC/program management systems.
- Experience reducing cycle times and improving machining processes.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move materials and tooling as required.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Willingness to work overtime or different shifts when production requirements dictate.
