Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to support the programming, setup, and operation of CNC machining centers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you will produce high-quality precision components from bar stock, castings, and other materials while adhering to engineering blueprints, specifications, and established procedures. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced in machining tight-tolerance parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC vertical and horizontal milling machines and lathes safely and efficiently
- Create and edit CNC programs (including at-machine edits) using G- and M-code
- Machine parts to tolerances as tight as ±0.0005”
- Select appropriate tooling, work-holding methods, speeds, and feeds based on material and part geometry
- Design, build, and utilize jigs and fixtures as required
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documentation
- Support production and engineering teams with technical guidance and machining solutions
- Develop and document manufacturing processes, methods, and work instructions
- Improve machining efficiency and maintain standard machining practices
- Troubleshoot machining, assembly, and manufacturing issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Prolonged standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday
- Ability to maintain focus on detailed tasks for 45–60 minutes at a time
- Visual acuity to inspect close tolerances and hear normal shop communication amid background noise
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of CNC programming and machining experience or an advanced degree in a related field
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or a closely related discipline
- Experience programming CNC equipment; Mastercam experience preferred
- Manufacturing shop floor experience
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
- Strong knowledge of shop math, trigonometry, and precision measurement tools
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance
- U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in Mastercam and SolidWorks
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Associate’s degree or higher in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field
This position is based in an industrial manufacturing shop. Employees will be exposed to machining dust, metal debris, and moderate noise levels consistent with CNC machining operations.
