Role Description

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring CNC machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Day-to-day duties include reading and interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tools and materials, performing machine setups and offsets, and inspecting finished parts using measurement tools to ensure adherence to quality standards. The CNC Machinist will troubleshoot machining issues, perform routine maintenance on equipment, and collaborate with engineers and supervisors to optimize production efficiency and support prototyping and pre-production runs. The role also involves documenting work, following safety protocols, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the shop.

Qualifications

• Strong CNC machining skills, including setup, operation, and basic programming for mills and lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and quality inspection procedures.
• Experience working with a variety of metals and materials commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and medical applications.
• Knowledge of machining safety practices and adherence to shop safety standards.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for machine performance and tooling issues.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment; mold making experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing technology is preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform hands-on work in a production environment.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
