Job summary

• Experience with online teaching, instructional design, and learning management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in both online and in-person formats.
• Teach and develop at least one section of CIS 1050 Personal Computer Productivity Tools.
• Create course materials, labs, assessments, and hands-on learning experiences aligned with OCC and industry standards.
• Mentor students pursuing cybersecurity careers and participate in advisory boards and program assessment.
• Collaborate with OCC faculty across campuses to strengthen articulation agreements and degree programs.
• Provide professional development support for students in Cybersecurity and IT Support programs.

The CIS instructor specializing in Cybersecurity and Information Technology Support provides high-quality instruction, mentorship, and academic leadership within the Computer Information Systems department. This role supports OCC’s mission by preparing students for industry-recognized certifications, transfer pathways, and workforce-ready careers in cybersecurity, networking, and IT support.

Expected Start Date: Winter/January 2027

$62,440 - $70,857 Starting Base Salary ($62,440 - $112,678 full salary range for the 2025-26 Salary Schedule).

Potential for additional pay:

Overload – 60% over base

• Teach a range of CIS courses, including but not limited to Cybersecurity, Networking, Operating Systems, Microsoft Office, Cisco, IT Support, and foundational programming.

• Candidates must be available and willing to teach and develop at least one section of CIS 1050 Personal Computer Productivity Tools as part of their teaching assignment for consistency College wide.
• Create course materials, labs, assessments, and hands-on learning experiences aligned with OCC and industry standards.
• Support students in achieving academic success, career readiness, and transfer goals, including pathways to partner institutions.
• Mentor students pursuing cybersecurity careers, including student clubs and specialized fields such as automotive cybersecurity, digital forensics, cloud security, and cyber operations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends, tools, frameworks, certification and best practices (e.g., NIST, secure coding, network defense).
• Participate in departmental initiatives, curriculum development, program assessment, advisory board, retention, persistence, completion, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with faculty across OCC campuses to strengthen articulation agreements, certificate pathways, and degree programs.
• Provide professional development support for students in Cybersecurity and IT Support programs.
• Engage in shared governance, professional development, industry partnerships, and community outreach to promote OCC’s CIS programs.

• Industry certifications such as A+, Security+, Network+, CEH, CCNA, cyber ops, or Microsoft certifications.
• Background in specialized cybersecurity domains (IoT security, automotive cybersecurity, cloud security, penetration testing).
• Experience mentoring students or supporting academic pathways to four-year institutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) concepts, tools, and applications into Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Networking, Information Systems, and Microsoft technologies coursework.
• Knowledge of emerging AI technologies, including Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, AI-assisted cybersecurity tools, machine learning fundamentals, and responsible and ethical AI practices.
• Experience using AI technologies to enhance student learning, curriculum development, workforce readiness, and instructional effectiveness.
• Experience teaching or supporting Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Microsoft Copilot, and other AI-enabled Microsoft solutions.
