Job summary

Qualifications

  • Teaching, training, and/or professional experience sufficient to demonstrate effective instruction in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, information technology, or a related field.
  • Expertise across cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, systems administration, virtualization, digital forensics, scripting/automation, and AI-enabled technologies.
  • Experience developing hands-on laboratory activities or technology-based learning environments.
  • Working knowledge of operating systems, computer hardware, networking technologies, and information security principles.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and continuously improve introductory and advanced courses in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, and related IT disciplines with applied, hands-on methods.
  • Develop laboratory-based learning experiences using current technologies, platforms and tools.
  • Integrate emerging technologies into curriculum, including AI-enabled tools, automation, cloud security, and DevSecOps.
  • Teach in multiple modalities (face-to-face, online, remote, hybrid, evening/weekend).
  • Fulfill a standard workload of 30 ESH per academic year and align with catalog descriptions and policies.
  • Advise and mentor students on progress, careers, and certifications.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and program review.
  • Support instructional labs and technology environments.
  • Maintain currency through professional development and industry engagement.
  • Support outreach, recruitment, partnerships, and student success initiatives.

Job Description

Montgomery College is seeking a full-time faculty member to join the Department of Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing and Networking. The department offers degree and certificate programs that prepare students for careers, industry certifications, transfer, and continued education in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, and related information technology fields. This position is a part of a collective bargaining unit.

Our programs emphasize applied, hands-on learning across interconnected areas of modern IT infrastructure and security, including cybersecurity, Cisco networking, cloud computing, systems administration, virtualization and hybrid infrastructure, digital forensics, scripting and automation, and the application of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to cybersecurity, cloud, and network environments. We seek an enthusiastic educator with strong expertise in two or more of these areas, the ability to contribute across related disciplines, and a commitment to student success, industry-aligned education, and continuous professional growth.

Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings, and weekends. Montgomery College has multiple campuses, and faculty may be assigned to teach in-person at any of these campuses and teach online.

Duties include but are not limited to
  • Teach and continuously improve introductory and advanced courses in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, and related information technology disciplines using applied, hands-on, and interdisciplinary approaches.

  • Develop laboratory-based learning experiences using current technologies, platforms, tools, virtual environments, and industry practices.

  • Evaluate and appropriately integrate emerging technologies into curriculum and instruction, including AI-enabled tools and applications, automation, cloud security, DevSecOps, infrastructure as code, and secure hybrid infrastructure.

  • Teach in multiple instructional modalities, which may include face-to-face, online, remote, hybrid, accelerated, evening, and weekend formats. Teaching assignments may occur at different Montgomery College campuses or locations and may include dual‑enrollment or Early College courses.

  • Fulfill a standard minimum workload of thirty (30) equivalent semester hours (ESH) per academic year and deliver assigned courses in accordance with College catalog descriptions, approved master course syllabi, departmental standards, and College policies.

  • Advise, mentor, and support students regarding academic progress, career and transfer pathways, industry certifications, internships, scholarships, and other educational and professional opportunities.

  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, program review, and continuous improvement, including alignment with industry standards, professional certifications, workforce needs, transfer pathways, and appropriate accreditation or external recognition.

  • Contribute to the development and effective use of instructional laboratories and technology environments supporting cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, systems administration, and related courses.

  • Maintain currency through professional development, industry engagement, certifications, professional organizations, research, or continuing education; participate in departmental and College meetings, committees, and initiatives.

  • Support outreach, recruitment, student organizations, competitions, partnerships with schools and industry, and other activities that advance student success, workforce preparation, and program growth.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Cloud Computing, Networking, Computer Networking, or a closely related field.

  • Teaching, training, and/or professional experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to provide effective instruction in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, information technology, or a closely related field.

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas relevant to the department and sufficient breadth to contribute across related disciplines, including cybersecurity and network security; cloud computing and infrastructure; computer networking; systems administration; virtualization and hybrid infrastructure; cyber operations and digital forensics; and scripting, automation, and AI-enabled technologies.

  • Experience developing, configuring, supporting, or using hands-on laboratory activities or technology-based learning environments.

  • Working knowledge of operating systems, computer hardware, networking technologies, and information security principles.

  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in higher education, secondary education, professional training, workforce development, or an equivalent instructional environment.

  • Two or more years of professional or industry experience in cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, systems administration, information technology, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, PowerShell, Bash, or another language relevant to cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, or systems administration.

  • Hands‑on experience with technologies relevant to the department, such as major cloud platforms; enterprise networking, Linux and Windows environments, virtualization and containers, cybersecurity operations and digital forensics, automation and AI-enabled tools, or cloud-based and virtual laboratory environments.

  • Current or recent industry-recognized certifications in relevant areas, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud certifications; CompTIA Cloud+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, or PenTest+; Cisco CCNA or higher; Linux certifications; AI-related certifications from recognized industry providers; or other relevant cloud computing, cybersecurity, networking, artificial intelligence, or information technology certifications.

  • Experience developing or updating curriculum, programs, and/or partnerships to support industry alignment, workforce needs, professional certifications, transfer pathways, and emerging technologies.

Hiring Range: $64,510 - $98,220
