Job summary

Lewis & Clark College is seeking an IT Help Desk Assistant to serve as the front-line support for student laptops, school printers, and emergency classroom tech/AV issues. You'll assist students in person, by email, live chat and phone, helping them connect to the wireless network and install printers.

Ideal candidates are proficient with Apple OSX and Windows, reliable, and able to handle a busy customer-service environment. Work-study preferred and the pay is $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Computer proficiency in Apple OSX and Windows.
  • Experience installing printers and accessing wireless networks.
  • AV/Media equipment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line IT support for student laptops and school printers.
  • Assist with on-call AV/Media classroom support.
  • Help connect laptops to wireless networks and install printers.
  • Troubleshoot word processing and spreadsheet questions.
  • Maintain printers with paper and toner; support email, live chat and phone.
  • Address classroom tech issues including AV‑Media equipment problems.

Job description

Job Purpose

IT Help Desk Assistants will be the front‑line support for all student personal laptop and Law School student printer issues and emergency classroom technical/media support, respond to requests for assistance in person, email, live chat and by phone.

Prerequisites for Eligibility

Preferred to be computer proficient in Apple OSX, Windows or both. Must know how to install a printer and how to access a wireless network. Prefer applicants have some AV/Media equipment experience like projectors. Must be dependable, reliable and accountable due to the fact that this is a busy customer service position.

Duties and Responsibilities

IT Help Desk Assistants will be the front‑line support for all student personal laptop and school‑owned printers. In addition, they may handle on‑call emergency classroom technical/media support when needed. Laptop duties include helping students connect their laptops to our wireless network, installing student printers on each laptop, installing PioNet network access software. Additional lab duties include answering questions on word processing, spreadsheets; maintaining the two student printers including supplying them with paper/toner and offering assistance with email, live-chat & over the phone. IT Help Desk Assistants will also respond to classroom technology issues, which may include troubleshooting computer and AV‑Media equipment problems.

Schedule

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8am to 8pm.

Preference for the following:

  • Mon 11am – 1:30pm
  • Fri 11am – 2pm

Rate of Pay

$17.00 per hour
