Job summary

Spitzer Industries, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Compression Engineer I to support design and engineering for natural gas compressor packages. You will perform performance analysis, ASME code calculations, data sheet development, and prepare a defined scope for fabrication and project delivery.

The role requires a BS in Engineering and 2+ years in oil and gas compression; 5+ years preferred. Strong communication, team collaboration, and proficiency with engineering software are essential

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical or equivalent Engineering.
  • 2+ years of Mechanical, Package, or Process Engineering in oil and gas compression.
  • 5+ years preferred.
  • Experience with reciprocating gas compressors is a plus.
  • ASME Section VIII knowledge required; Compress Software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Uses a broad range of process, mechanical, and instrumentation engineering capabilities to evaluate, develop, model, and optimize ideas in support of capital projects and operational issues.
  • Evaluates mechanical, electromechanical, and process systems and products by applying previous experience as well as principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
  • Develops natural gas compressors and associated products by studying customer requirements while considering manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
  • Assures product quality by monitoring product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Confer with project stakeholders, operations, management, vendors and various subject matter experts to develop a proposed project scope definition and insure the validity of the design through its execution.
  • Work closely with design team to develop all assembly and fabrication drawings.
  • Develop bill of materials, including but not limited to valves, PSVs, and instrumentation.
  • Professionally report technical findings and insight to aid the collaborative decision-making process.
  • Interfaces with project managers, fabrication teams and outside providers of engineering services to support work effort as needed.
  • May support estimating functions by performing engineering evaluations and technical feasibility related to new business development opportunities.
  • Continually develops proficiency in software packages such as those used for compressor performance, process simulation, and ASME code calculations.
