Job summary

Aerotek is hiring entry level Manufacturing Techs for a 1st shift in Poway, CA. This contract-to-hire role focuses on fabricating, assembling, and repairing advanced composite structures with carbon fiber, reading blueprints, and handling curing and finishing processes.

Pay starts at $21.64/hr with on-site work in San Diego area. Training is available for motivated candidates; benefits and company info follow Aerotek’s standard program.

Qualifications

• Reads and interprets work instructions and engineering drawings.
• Proficient with hand tools and basic measurement.
• Painting experience is a strong plus for this role.

Responsibilities

• Apply adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents.
• Install rivets, bolts, and screws with hand/power tools.
• Assemble complex structures with hardware and composite components.
• Prepare bonding surfaces by sanding and cleaning as required.
• Use jigs, fixtures, and templates to ensure accuracy.
• Record process steps and deviations from standard procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams.

Job Description

You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing advanced composite structures using materials such as carbon fiber. You will read and interpret blueprints, curing, and finishing processes.

Responsibilities

• Precisely align and fit composite parts and subassemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications.

• Apply structural adhesives, sealants, and bonding agents to join composite components.

• Install fasteners such as rivets, bolts, and screws using hand and power tools.

• Assemble complex structures by integrating hardware and mating composite parts with metallic or non-metallic elements.

• Prepare bonding surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and treating as required.

• Set up and use assembly jigs, fixtures, and templates to maintain dimensional accuracy and repeatability.

• Perform basic functional checks and preliminary inspections to verify assembly quality.

• Record assembly steps, process parameters, and any deviations from standard procedures.

• Work closely with engineering, quality, and fabrication teams to resolve assembly challenges.

• Assist in the preparation of molds and forms.

• Mark and cut materials following templates, guides, or specific dimensions.

• Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances.

• Maintain work area in an orderly condition by returning tools, equipment, and materials to storage.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read and interpret work instructions

• Ability to use hand tools (mechanically inclined)

• If you have any type of painting experience, that is a big plus

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.64 - $21.64/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
