Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Composite Strength Analyst in Denver to analyze composite and metallic structures, develop FEMs, and support design reviews. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate analysis into design recommendations and ensure safety factors meet requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 4+ years of experience, and proficiency with NASTRAN, ABAQUS, FEMAP, NX, and Matlab.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results/experience.
Proficiency with MS Office tools.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
General understanding of materials and material properties.
Experience with Structural Analysis.
Experience analyzing composite structures with FEA and hand calcs.
General knowledge of fabrication and repair methods for composite hardware.
Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Experience working with component suppliers and development of spec requirements.
Understanding of bolted joint modeling and analysis.
Understanding of GD&T standards and principles.
Understanding of analysis best practices and underlying assumptions.
Understanding of basic hand calculations.

Responsibilities

Perform analysis of composite and metallic structures to support operations and development programs.
Create FEMs and perform hand calculations with design recommendations.
Run/modify FEMs to support updates and nonconformance resolution.
Review 3-D layouts, models and drawings; approve changes.
Provide engineering design recommendations considering loads and materials.
Document results in strength reports and support reviews.
Support internal peer reviews and design reviews.
Assist fast-paced design/analysis cycles and evaluate non-conformances.
Coordinate with leads and train junior engineers in fundamentals.
