Job summary

United Launch Alliance (ULA) is seeking a Composite Strength Analyst in Denver to analyze composite and metallic structures, develop FEMs, and support design reviews. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate analysis into design recommendations and ensure safety factors meet requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 4+ years of experience, and proficiency with NASTRAN, ABAQUS, FEMAP, NX, and Matlab.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results/experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • General understanding of materials and material properties.
  • Experience with Structural Analysis.
  • Experience analyzing composite structures with FEA and hand calcs.
  • General knowledge of fabrication and repair methods for composite hardware.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with component suppliers and development of spec requirements.
  • Understanding of bolted joint modeling and analysis.
  • Understanding of GD&T standards and principles.
  • Understanding of analysis best practices and underlying assumptions.
  • Understanding of basic hand calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of composite and metallic structures to support operations and development programs.
  • Create FEMs and perform hand calculations with design recommendations.
  • Run/modify FEMs to support updates and nonconformance resolution.
  • Review 3-D layouts, models and drawings; approve changes.
  • Provide engineering design recommendations considering loads and materials.
  • Document results in strength reports and support reviews.
  • Support internal peer reviews and design reviews.
  • Assist fast-paced design/analysis cycles and evaluate non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with leads and train junior engineers in fundamentals.
