Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review government and customer contracts to identify compliance obligations and documentation needs.
  • Maintain organized contractual compliance records for audits and reviews.
  • Interpret contract clauses and communicate requirements to Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management.
  • Assist in processes ensuring adherence to DFARS, Buy America, and related elements.
  • Support regulatory reporting with traceability documentation and certificates.
  • Monitor regulatory material compliance for REACH, RoHS, CMRT/EMRT, TSCA, Prop 65; communicate regulatory risks.
  • Monitor supplier EOL notices and PCNs; assist with last time buy decisions and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify alternate parts and regulatory alignment.

Position Summary The Compliance Technician II supports Comtech’s installed base by ensuring that all materials, products, and processes comply with applicable regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements. This role is responsible for reviewing government and customer contracts, monitoring regulatory material compliance, maintaining accurate product compliance documentation, and supporting engineering and supply chain teams with component obsolescence and last time buy activities. The position plays an essential part in sustaining long-term product reliability and compliance across Comtech’s legacy and active programs.

Responsibilities
  • Government Contract Compliance & Contract Review
  • Review government and customer contracts to identify compliance obligations, regulatory flow downs, reporting requirements, and documentation needs. Maintain organized contractual compliance records for audits and government reviews.
  • Interpret contract clauses and communicate applicable compliance requirements to Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management.
  • Assist in building internal processes that ensure adherence to FAR/DFARS clauses, Buy America/Buy American requirements, and other contractual compliance elements.
  • Support compliance reporting associated with Comtech’s installed base, including traceability documentation, certifications, and configuration data.
  • Regulatory Material Compliance
  • Monitor materials and components used across Comtech’s installed base for compliance with key environmental and substance-control regulations, including:
  • REACH (SVHC identification, thresholds, and reporting),RoHS (lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium VI, PBDE/PBB restrictions)
  • Conflict Minerals (CMRT/EMRT reporting)
  • TSCA (Toxic Substances Control Act) restrictions and inventory requirements
  • EU Waste Framework Directive reporting, California Proposition 65 requirements
  • Review and validate supplier declarations, material disclosures, and certificates of compliance. Communicate regulatory risks or potential noncompliance as part of technical assessments or customer inquiries.
  • Maintain up-to-date regulatory compliance records for legacy and active components to support long-term sustainment and customer reporting.
  • Work with Procurement and Engineering to resolve gaps in supplier documentation, identify alternative material sources, and ensure regulatory alignment for the installed base.
  • Obsolescence & Last Time Buy Support
  • Monitor supplier End of Life (EOL) notices, Product Change Notices (PCNs), and industry alerts for components used in Comtech’s products.
  • Evaluate impacts of component obsolescence on manufacturing, sustainment, and fielded systems within the installed base.
  • Assist with gathering data and preparing recommendations for last time buy decisions to support long-term availability and product lifecycle continuity.
  • Maintain detailed records of discontinued parts, mitigation plans, and procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify alternate parts or redesign options as needed.
Requirements
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks, DFARs, government contracting requirements, and environmental material regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and review.
  • Ability to interpret contracts, technical specifications, and regulatory material disclosures.
  • Effective communication skills across cross functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Management).
  • Experience with compliance databases, supplier document management, or regulatory tracking systems is a plus.
Skills
  • Ability to act as a DFARs regulation subject matter expert, and familiarity with MIL-STDs.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 or NADCAP.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional acumen necessary to translate government-speak into industry-speak.
Education & Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or combination of education and relevant experience.

The pay range reflects the expected base salary for this position. Final compensation will be based on role, level, skills, experience, and geographic location.
