Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Compliance Specialist to work in Fresno, CA. This position is also open to remote work; however, the client is in California and it is expected that this individual's working hours align with Pacific Time. This role offers a career-defining opportunity to support construction compliance efforts on the largest infrastructure project in the nation that is redefining transportation in the state of California.

SUMMARY:

The compliance specialist plays a key role in ensuring environmental commitments are accurately tracked, reported, and aligned with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include managing mitigation compliance information in a proprietary database, preparing compliance reports, assisting with construction-phase documentation, and coordinating with construction contractors and permitting staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Code environmental commitments from environmental and permit approval documents into the EMMA database
  • Prepare reports in EMMA
  • Support the environmental compliance manager using EMMA for construction compliance demonstration
  • Assist with construction-phase compliance reporting
  • Troubleshoot, document, and resolve data quality issues related to data storage in the EMMA database
  • Complete quality control and auditing efforts to track environmental compliance
  • Assist with document control in SharePoint and other applications

Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in environmental planning, biology, or related field and 2 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in construction compliance tracking, documentation, and reporting
  • Experience with design-build contracting and construction processes
  • Experience with database management applications
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental laws and regulations (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA], Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act, Section 7 of the federal Endangered Species Act, Section 2081 of the California Endangered Species Act, and Section 1600 of the California Fish and Game Code)
  • Experience working on large, complex environmental compliance programs
