Job summary

Southern Company seeks a skilled Compensation Analyst to develop analyses supporting executive compensation programs and LTI administration. The role aids in preparing Compensation Committee materials and helps ensure accurate financial and operational goal reporting.

The candidate will model scenarios, support PPP and annual budgeting, and contribute to the preparation of executive compensation disclosures. Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field is required.
• 2+ years in an analytical role (compensation, finance, accounting, internal audit, etc.) required.
• Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint experience.
• Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, data analysis, and executive-level presentation development.
• Demonstrates problem-solving capabilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop analyses that support broad-based and executive compensation programs, including financial analysis, shareholder value considerations, labor market insights, and compensation market trends.
• Support Long-Term Incentive (LTI) administration and prepare materials for the Compensation and Talent Development Committee of the Southern Company Board.
• Maintain the Performance Pay Program (PPP) calculation model and track/ report financial and operational goal performance.
• Develop scenario analyses and assess financial plan implications; assist with monthly accruals and annual budget projections.
• Prepare annual Total Rewards Statements for executives and assist with compensation-related disclosures in the proxy statement.
• Coordinate executive approval of financial and operational goal results and document controls to validate year-end results.
