Job summary

Petco is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our Vetco Total Care hospital team. You will work closely with veterinarians to provide high-quality care to our patients and exceptional service to their owners.

The role requires immunizations, compassionate communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced veterinary setting. Excellent teamwork and experience with EMR systems are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have college or college-equivalent education as required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Be a compassionate, team-oriented professional who can handle stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record weights and vitals, and begin the medical record documentation.
• Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Restrain patients, collect and process lab samples, and dispense medications under supervision.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and manage client/patient records and billing.
• Prepare patients for anesthesia, monitor during procedures, and discharge or transfer as needed.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and aftercare, keep patients clean and hydrated, and assist with walking dogs as needed.
• Train new staff and support hospital operations.Keep hospital clean and maintain a safe environment.
