Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide high-quality care in a Vetco Total Care hospital. You will assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and patient care, while delivering exceptional customer service to pet owners in a fast-paced environment.

You will document patient histories in the EMR, restrain animals as needed, manage medications, and help with diagnostic tests and recovery. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• College or college-equivalent education required to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
• At least 1 year of veterinary technician experience preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor under stress.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vital signs, and document visit history in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with exams, surgery, dentistry, and occasional euthanasia.
• Restrain patients, process lab samples, and dispense medications as directed.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, update records, and manage accounts.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthesia, and assist with recovery.
• Maintain a clean hospital environment and participate in staff training.
