Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is seeking a dedicated veterinary assistant in Illinois to support our veterinary team by assisting with patient care, recovery, and routine treatments. You will help with diagnostics, radiographs, and medication administration while maintaining a clean, organized hospital environment.

The role requires physical stamina and strong teamwork as part of a busy hospital; prior animal-care experience is beneficial, with a base hourly wage and potential bonuses

Qualifications

Must be 18 years or older
Self-starter able to multitask and be a team player
Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stressed or ill animals
Prefer 1+ years of experience but not required

Responsibilities

Assist with patient care and treatment
Monitor hospitalized pets and assist after surgery
Maintain inventory and stocking
Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
Aid routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal)
Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments/equipment
Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and treatment areas
Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
Feed and bathe animals
Answer phones and assist clients with their pets
