Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) seeks a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to support the care team in a busy general practice. You will assist with patient care, monitoring, diagnostics, and client communication to ensure high-quality outcomes for pets and families.

In this on-site role, you will help restrain animals, handle medications under supervision, maintain clean rooms, manage inventory, and support front-desk tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player
• Enjoy working with animals and handle stressed/ill or in-pain pets

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Monitor hospitalized pets and assist after surgery
• Maintain inventory and stocking
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims
• Aid with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal)
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
• Clean/Disinfect cages and treatment areas
• Administer medications under supervision
• Feeding and bathing animals
• Answer phones and provide customer service
• Assist clients with their pets
