National Veterinary Associates (NVA) is hiring a veterinary assistant to support care and operations across our network in Grand Haven, MI. The role includes assisting with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, restraining animals, and aiding with diagnostics, medications, and client interactions.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and work in a team.
• Genuinely loves working with animals and can handle stressed or ill pets.
• Prefer 1+ year of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet physical demands; lift up to 40 lbs and restrain animals.
• Walks or stands for extended periods and works in a hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets / aid after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aid with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Answer phones and provide customer service.
• Help clients with their pets.
