Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to deliver exceptional medical care to patients and outstanding customer service to owners. You will be the first touchpoint in the hospital, helping the team provide high-quality care and a supportive experience for every pet and client.

Responsibilities include assisting doctors, handling admissions, maintaining EMRs, and keeping the facility clean and organized while contributing to staff training and positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in veterinary practice preferred, strong patient and client interaction skills.
• Must be compassionate under stressful situations and maintain professionalism.
• Excellent communication with clients and team, plus reliability and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, obtain vitals and document in EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor during anesthesia, and support recovery and discharge.
• Maintain clean hospital environment and assist in training new staff.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
