Job summary

Petco's Veterinary Hospital in Wichita, KS is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our Vetco Total Care team. You will greet clients, record patient weight and vital signs, and help manage the patient journey from exam room through discharge.

Under supervision of veterinarians and technicians, you will assist with appointments, surgeries, dental procedures, anesthesia, and in-hospital treatments, while keeping the EMR updated and helping maintain a clean, welcoming hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Prefer at least 1 year of veterinary practice experience.
• Strong communication and empathy with clients.
• Ability to handle emotional situations and maintain professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments, escort to exam room and record weight/vital signs.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle and dispense medications, process lab samples, and document in EMR.
• Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay results, and maintain records.
• Assist in anesthesia and monitor patients during procedures and recovery.
• Maintain hospital cleanliness and assist in training new staff.
