Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care patients and provide exceptional client care. You will assist veterinarians, handle medications, and help maintain EMRs in a busy hospital setting.

You will contribute to a cohesive team, manage patient flow, and support daily operations while ensuring high standards of care and client satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of veterinary practice or related animal care experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor during emotional situations.
• Telephone and computer skills.
• Team player willing to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, escort to exam room, record weight and vital signs, and document in EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle and dispense medications as directed; maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments and provide client education; relay test results.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia under supervision.
• Perform in-hospital treatments and monitor patients’ vitals during recovery.
• Assist in training new staff and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Provide backup front desk support as needed.
