The role emphasizes student assist, safety procedures, emergency readiness, and collaboration with drivers to manage wheelchairs, seating, and pre/post-trip checks; training and confidentiality are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of hire.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate interpersonal relations skills.
• Intermediate organizational skills.
• Ability to learn and master skills related to transporting students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor students with special needs during bus rides and respond to medical or behavioral situations.
• Assist students entering/exiting the bus and secure them safely.
• Secure wheelchairs and adjust safety equipment and restraints on board.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections with the driver.
• Communicate student information and maintain confidential records.
• Collaborate on emergency evacuation planning and procedures.
• Maintain required certifications and participate in training meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
