Kulanu Academy is seeking a dependable driver to transport individuals with special needs to and from program locations and community activities in Cedarhurst, NY. The role emphasizes safety, punctuality, and professional conduct to ensure a positive experience for those we serve.

The successful candidate will hold a valid New York State Driver License, pass OPWDD checks, and maintain a safe, clean vehicle while following schedules and policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with individuals with special needs.
• 2 years of professional driving experience is a plus.
• Valid New York State Driver License.
• Ability to pass OPWDD background checks and driving record review.
• Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a variety of situations.

Responsabilités

• Safely operate a company vehicle to transport individuals with special needs to and from designated locations in accordance with assigned schedules.
• Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and securing themselves safely in the vehicle as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized vehicle at all times.
• Comply with all New York State traffic laws, organizational transportation policies, and safety procedures.
• Navigate assigned routes efficiently using GPS or other navigation tools to ensure timely arrivals.
• Maintain accurate transportation records, including mileage, fuel usage, and other required documentation.
• Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding schedule changes, delays, vehicle issues, accidents, or incidents.
• Provide courteous, respectful, and professional service to passengers, families, staff, and community members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
