Job summary

Sawtooth Elementary School is seeking a dedicated Special Education Personal Care Assistant to support students with special needs. Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; AA degree or Idaho Paraprofessional exam.
• Experience working with children, especially with special needs, is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building rapport with students and staff.
• Patience, empathy and a genuine desire to support students with disabilities.
• Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Basic knowledge of special education practices and IEP development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with daily living activities including personal care.
• Provide individualized attention and encouragement in the classroom.
• Implement IEPs and behavior intervention plans under guidance of teachers.
• Monitor and document student progress and report concerns.
• Foster a positive learning environment and promote student engagement.
• Collaborate with staff to adapt instructional materials for individual needs.
• Assist with classroom behavior management and positive interactions.
• Participate in training to enhance skills in special education practices.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with students and families.
