Job summary

St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati is seeking a Social Services Advocate to serve at the Neyer Outreach Center. The SSA will be cross-trained across Welcome Room, Call Center, Front Desk and Choice Food Pantry, conducting assessments, gathering documentation, and delivering services with compassion.

The role requires a high school diploma (college degree preferred) and strong customer service skills; bilingual Spanish abilities are a plus. Typical hours are Mon–Fri, with occasional Saturday shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Degree or prior experience in social work, human services, or related fields preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish) abilities a plus.
• Excellent customer service skills and clear, compassionate communication.
• Ability to work on own initiative and stay organized with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Engage neighbors in a Welcome Room to holistically assess needs and determine eligibility for assistance and referrals.
• Assess and respond to needs of neighbors presenting critical situations during business hours.
• Serve as pantry guide, assisting neighbors in the Choice Pantry and with transportation
• Greet guests at the front desk and provide compassionate guidance about services.
• Assist Call Center with harvesting and returning calls to neighbors.
• Maintain neighbor records in the case management system and provide administrative support.
• Participate as a member of the Outreach Center Services team and collaborate with volunteers.
• Maintain awareness of community resources and access processes.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Particular areas of focus may include: processing rent and utility cases; managing lobby flow; greeting visitors.
