Job summary

Swope Health PACE KC is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport participants to the PACE Center and appointments, using lift-equipped vans and buses as needed. You will complete logs, assist with boarding, and maintain a professional appearance in uniform.

The role requires a valid five-year driving history, a current DOT certificate, and at least three years of relevant experience, with emphasis on elder or disability care and ADA awareness.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license for a minimum of five years with a clean driving record.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate required.
• Must pass pre-employment screenings: background check, physical, drug/alcohol screen, fitness for duty.
• Professional appearance and wear of approved uniform and ID badge at all times.
• Minimum of three years of experience transporting clients in large passenger vehicles; experience with older adults or disabilities preferred.
• Documentation of required immunizations (Varicella, MMR, COVID-19) may be required.
• Familiarity with Kansas City area and surrounding service region preferred.
• Ability to safely push/pull up to 150 lbs and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of ADA and accessible transportation best practices.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport participants to and from the PACE Center and appointments.
• Operate lift-equipped vans and buses in a professional, courteous manner.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections; ensure cleanliness, fueling, and maintenance.
• Complete daily manifests, mileage logs, and documentation in systems.
• Assist participants with boarding/exiting, lifts, ramps, and belts.
• Provide hands-on mobility assistance while keeping comfort and safety.
• Report changes in participant condition to supervisors promptly.
• Deliver medications, nutrition supplements, and medical supplies as directed.
• Participate in safety training and elder care education.
• Follow transportation policies and HIPAA, reporting incidents as needed.
• Use sound judgment in challenging situations, including emergencies.
• Represent PACE KC with friendly, respectful, culturally sensitive service.
