Job summary

PACE KC is seeking a Transportation Driver to safely transport participants to the PACE Center and medical appointments, while maintaining dignity and independence. The role emphasizes courteous service and adherence to safety standards in a supportive elder-care setting.

Qualified candidates will have a valid driver's license with 3+ years of transporting clients, a current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and comfort working with older adults or individuals

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license for at least five years with a clean driving record.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate required.
• Pass pre-employment screenings: background check, physical, drug/alcohol.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Documentation of required immunizations may be required.
• Minimum of three years transporting clients and operating large passenger vehicles.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs.
• Knowledge of ADA and accessible transportation best practices.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Familiarity with the Kansas City metro area preferred.
• Professional appearance and wearing required uniform/ID.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet timelines.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport participants to the PACE Center, medical appointments, and homes.
• Operate lift-equipped vans and buses professionally and timely.
• Complete daily vehicle inspections and keep vehicle clean and fueled.
• Maintain daily manifests, mileage logs, and docs in systems or apps.
• Assist with boarding/exiting and proper use of lifts and seat belts.
• Provide hands-on mobility assistance and ensure comfort and safety.
• Report changes in participant condition to staff promptly.
• Deliver medications, nutrition supplements, and supplies as directed.
• Participate in safety training and elder care education.
• Follow transportation policies, HIPAA and incident reporting.
• Use professional judgment with challenging situations or emergencies.
• Represent PACE KC with friendly, respectful customer service.
• Communicate effectively with participants, caregivers, and partners.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ID badge during shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Coordinator or leadership.
