Job summary

Goodwin Living in Alexandria, VA, seeks a transportation aide responsible for safe, courteous transit of residents and guests using company services. The role pays $22/hr and runs Monday–Friday 11:00am–3:00pm, with occasional weekend coverage.

Duties include vehicle checks, driving a range of vehicles, loading passengers, and maintaining safety and cleanliness. Applicants should have a high school diploma, a valid license, and strong English communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to drive a variety of vehicles including wheelchair van, fourteen passenger bus, ten passenger shuttle bus and sedans.
• Must be willing to work at each campus as needed to support transportation requests.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Must be able to read and write English proficiently and clearly.
• Valid current Driver's license required with insurable driving record.
• Previous experience in public transportation, public relations, or related field preferred.
• Must complete and pass occupational health assessments on an annual basis, as required by the physician.
• Must also maintain a current CPR license.

Responsibilities

• Transports residents to medical appointments, social events, and private trips in a safe and timely manner.
• Inspects vehicle daily for adequate fluid levels and safe operation; adds fluids and ensures preventive and/or corrective maintenance performed as needed; completes inspection report accordingly.
• Ensures vehicle remains clean, neat, and attractive inside and out.
• Reports damages, traffic violations and any other problems immediately to the Transportation Manager.
• Assists in opening doors and safely loading and unloading passengers and equipment.
• Consistently always follows and adheres to traffic laws and acts as a courteous driver.
• Must alert the Transportation Manager and Human Resources of any change in driving record, including but not limited to accidents and tickets for traffic violations.
