The Gardens of Hendersonville in Hendersonville, NC is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for residents according to menus and dietary needs. You will collaborate with the Dietary Manager to ensure timely meal service, maintain a clean, safe kitchen, manage inventory, train new staff, and engage residents by honoring their preferences.

Qualifications

• Evidence of cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant settings.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring meals are nutritious and prepared to dietary requirements.
• Meal Service: Ensure meals are served timely with high quality, proper portions and presentation.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary kitchen and proper storage of supplies.
• Team Collaboration: Work with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff; assist in training new kitchen staff.
• Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and reporting shortages or needs.
• Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and resident preferences.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations and sanitation practices.
