Job summary

Viva Senior Living at Albany is seeking a Cook to prepare meals according to menus and nutritional plans while ensuring quality, taste, and safety standards for residents. The role requires teamwork, compassion, and strict adherence to attendance and facility policies.

You will manage kitchen duties, assist with inventory and food storage, and participate in safety drills and training to uphold high levels of resident care and sanitation throughout the dining services.

Qualifications

• Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Must adhere to Viva Senior Living’s attendance policies and follow the terms and conditions of employment as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
• Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of residents and their families.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Prepare meals on menus and based on nutritional programs and individual plans.
• Ensure the quality of meals in regard to taste, presentation and dietary requirements.
• Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard sanitary measures and proper storage of food items.
• Serve food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperature.
• Demonstrate flexibility and volunteer to fill open shifts as required by staffing variations.
• Follow proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention.
