Job summary

Better Living is seeking a Prep Cook / Dining Services Assistant to support the Culinary Services team in providing high-quality dining experiences for residents. You will prepare ingredients, assist with meal production, and help maintain a safe, welcoming dining environment.

The role emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and resident-focused service, with duties spanning food prep, meal service, sanitation, and event support in a senior living setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous food service, prep cook, or restaurant experience preferred.
• Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and follow recipes.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for meals, washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items.
• Assist cooks with meal preparation according to recipes, menus, and dietary requirements.
• Prepare salads, desserts, sandwiches, and other menu items as assigned.
• Label, date, and store food items following safety guidelines.
