Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is seeking Positive Support Specialists to work in Intensive Community Residential Services, aiding individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and mental health needs in home and community settings.

You will help with daily living activities, advocate for rights, document shifts, and participate in trauma-informed care, with training in managing crises as needed. The ALIVE Workplace emphasizes support, growth, and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Minimum education is a high school diploma, but the preference is a degree in a field relevant to this role.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience; preference for 3-5 years with people with complex needs.
• Must pass a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background study and have a driver's license; MVR required.
• Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent in activities of daily living.
• Advocate for rights and medical care within the community.
• Complete documentation and record-keeping every shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely; training in Positive Behavioral Supports provided.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
