Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• National certification/registration as Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist or ability to obtain within 180 days.
• 1+ year of computer literacy experience.
• 1+ year of customer service experience.
• 1+ year of experience with laboratory tools and specimen collection.
• 1+ year of data entry experience.
• 1+ year of laboratory work experience.
• 1+ year of knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture using vacutainer, syringe, or butterfly needle.
• Collects, identifies, labels, and processes specimens per protocol.
• Instructs patients on urine collection procedures and handles urine specimens.
• Prepares equipment for blood collection.
• Cleans, sterilizes equipment and maintains equipment and monitors.
• Enters laboratory data into the computer and responds to abnormal values.
• Distributes laboratory reports and monitors biohazard waste.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to regulations.
• Prioritizes workload to support Providers with information.
• Performs clerical duties and supports a courteous telephone presence.
