Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Department. The Phlebotomist draws blood samples, prepares specimens for testing, and handles clerical duties to keep the lab running efficiently.

You will greet patients, collect specimens per procedures, verify patient identity, and perform data entry, labeling, and routine processing. Some travel to off-site locations may be required, and customer service in a fast-paced setting is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and the community with respectful service.
• Collect specimens per procedures and ensure proper processing.
• Identify patients accurately to match identity with service.
• Handle data entry and processing of specimens: labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing.
• Perform clerical duties: inventory, stock, answering phones.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
