Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking a Laboratory Hospital Phlebotomist to collect specimens, process samples, and enter data accurately. The role supports mission and quality service for patients, physicians, and Associates.

You will greet patients, manage supplies, train new staff, perform venipuncture and dermal puncture, ensure proper labeling, and provide timely reports to physicians. A high school diploma and phlebotomy training or experience are required, with CPR certification at hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience or completed accredited program.
• ASCP phlebotomy certification desired.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Previous customer service experience helpful.
• Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills required.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, physicians and Associates professionally.
• Perform venipuncture and dermal puncture accurately.
• Maintain phlebotomy supplies and patient prep for smooth operations.
• Enter test orders and patient data into the laboratory system accurately.
• Provide reports to physicians and nursing units on request.
• Ensure accurate labeling and specimen accessioning.
• Adhere to confidentiality and policies; train new associates and students.
• Answer phones and direct callers promptly; support efficient communication.
• Print workflow reports and communicate turnaround delays to supervisor.
