Job summary

Centers Laboratory of New Jersey is actively searching for Phlebotomists to work on weekdays 8 AM - 7 PM for our laboratory located in Neptune Township, NJ. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of prior experience along with excellent interpersonal skills!

Reports to: Phlebotomy Supervisor. Will work in multiple locations. Phlebotomists are professionals who draw blood and ensure proper labeling and handling for testing.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy Technician certificate preferred.
• Two years proven experience as a phlebotomist.
• Understanding of standard blood drawing practices and procedures.
• Able and flexible to work nights, evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients using wristband, documents or through known visual identification.
• Assemble supplies and equipment required to perform specimen collection according to standards.
• Identify priorities such as Stat, timed, or routine.
• Determine the right venipuncture method based on patient age, health, etc.
• Reassure patients and help them relax.
• Find veins suitable for puncture and draw blood using proper techniques.
• Label test tubes correctly and send for testing.
• Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality.
• Adhere to safety standards and proper disposal of sharps and waste.
• Educate patients on immediate aftercare.
