Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accredited phlebotomy training preferred.
• Certification as Phlebotomy Technician within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience in clinical or hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, venipuncture techniques, and infection control practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency with medical software and basic computer skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Background check, drug screening, and proof of immunizations (including hepatitis B) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, following protocols for sample integrity and comfort.
• Verify patient identity, explain procedures, and obtain informed consent prior to collections.
• Label, process, and transport specimens accurately to the laboratory for analysis, maintaining chain-of-custody documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
• Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
• Enter patient data and test requests into EHR systems with accuracy.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lab technicians to ensure seamless patient care.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, such as proficiency testing and equipment calibration.
• Adhere to all policies, including HIPAA and safety protocols.
