Job summary

Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients and visitors between clinics and nursing units. You will follow safety protocols, identify patients, and ensure courteous, secure transportation within the hospital.

The role requires CPR certification, good communication, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver excellent patient service. Shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• CPR certified.
• Basic computer skills.
• Effective communication skills, solid team player and a commitment to providing excellent patient service and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients and visitors to/from hospital clinics and units as requested.
• Identify patients using 2 identifiers and follow hand-off policies.
• Secure patients on transfer devices to maintain safety.
• Use proper body mechanics when transporting patients.
• Know hospital/clinic layout to choose safest, quickest route.
• Maintain direct communication with patient during transport.
• Prioritize transport requests.
• Assist in mail collection/delivery when possible.
