Job summary

Advocate Health in Milwaukee is seeking a Medical Transporter to move patients and equipment safely between units. You will use proper body mechanics and patient care etiquette while assisting clinical staff.

You will transport patients, ensure accurate identification, maintain and document transport activities, and comply with BLS requirements within 6 months. 40-hour weekly schedules across 1st–3rd shifts are available.

Qualifications

• Excellent Communication Skills
• Demonstrated experience in customer service
• Satisfactory completion in safe patient handling for transporters within one month of start date.
• Ability to assess status of equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition.
• Ability to assess and determine the best routes within hospital to reach desired destinations.

Responsibilities

• Lifts and transports patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers or beds, properly positioning and securing patient using proper body mechanics.
• Transports patients to their destinations. May also transport other items such as patient belongings, specimens, carts, wheelchairs and equipment.
• Contacts clinical staff immediately regarding changes to a patient’s condition, or if an issue arises with patient’s equipment during transport.
• Verifies and documents correct patient identification by comparing information from the printed ticket to ride to patient wristband.
• Using electronic software, the transporter will track when assignments are initiated, completed, delayed, or cancelled.
• Collects and returns equipment to the proper holding areas. Disinfects and inspects transport equipment before and after use.
