Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a Patient Transporter to move patients, specimens, and equipment safely throughout the facility. You will assist patients in entering and exiting vehicles and ensure timely, compassionate care in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Or attending High School.
• CPR “HeartSaver” required by the end of orientation.
• Experience: Prior work experience in the health care field preferred.
• Effective Communication Skills.
• Ability to lift and transport patients.
• Ability to withstand frequent to prolonged walking, standing, pushing and pulling.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors and other equipment.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting staff or department. Assists staff with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.
