Job summary

The Hughston Clinic is seeking a Patient Transporter to help move patients, equipment, and specimens safely within the hospital environment. Under supervision, you will assist patients in and out of bed and transport them between departments, radiology, and outpatient areas.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, one year of related experience, and BLS certification before transporting a patient without staff. Excellent customer service and teamwork are essential in this position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in a comparable job or nursing care assistant/nurse tech is preferred.
• BLS certification for healthcare workers required prior to transporting a patient without clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Identify self to staff and retrieve patient charts as needed.
• Transfer patients using beds, stretchers, or wheelchairs following infection control and body mechanics.
• Ensure correct patient identification before transport.
• Notify receiving staff of patient arrival.
• Transport equipment and supplies to designated areas and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
• Support safe and efficient patient transport to various departments and areas within the hospital.
• Maintain safety practices and incident reporting per hospital policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
