Qualifications

• Reads, comprehends, and follows written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Capable of routine heavy lifting, pushing, bending, carrying, and walking constantly.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine patient transport between nursing units, diagnostic areas, doctors' suites, morgue, and other areas of the hospital.
• Transports blood and other specimens on both a Stat and routine basis.
• Delivers patient equipment, various supply items, audiovisual equipment, and exchanges gas tanks as needed.
• Receives direction from Transport Supervisor, Dispatcher, or designee.
• Ensures all equipment (stretchers, wheelchairs) are properly stored after use.
• Ensures linen is removed and oxygen bottles secured after use.
• Disinfects stretcher pads and wheelchairs before and after patients with precautions.
• Follows established protocols for patient identification.
