Job summary

MultiCare Health System’s Tacoma General Hospital is seeking a Patient Equipment Transport Services Technician to move patients and clinical equipment safely across the facility. You will collaborate with nursing staff, support mobility, and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained per protocols.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced healthcare setting, with a focus on patient care and operational efficiency at Tacoma General Hospital.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Current BLS Certification.
• Successful completion of in-house training program on patient lift and mobility within 6 months of placement in job.
• One (1) year of previous transport or related healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and timely transport of patients, beds, oxygen, supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
• Assist clinical personnel in transferring patients to and from beds, chairs, wheelchairs, stretchers, gurneys and other transport equipment.
• Respond to patient lift codes by transporting lift equipment and assisting nursing staff, as required.
• Maintain clinical equipment by adhering to manufacturers' cleaning protocols.
• Partner with a service-oriented attitude, professional integrity, and solid decision-making abilities.
• Effectively prioritize and apply organization and flexibility to your work duties.
• Deliver supplies and equipment to requesting departments, obtaining confirmation of receipt for item delivered, and assist with unloading.
• Collect soiled equipment and follow infection prevention guidelines.
• Distribute and clean clinical equipment; set PAR levels on floors.
• Assist in ordering and discharge of rental clinical equipment.
• Maintain accurate rental equipment logs or documentation.
• Participate in all phases of equipment recalls and conversions; secure equipment per procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the clean equipment room and supply areas.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

BLS Certification

In-house training within 6 months

1 year healthcare transport experience
