Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in a medical office or customer service position.
• Ability to handle payments and balance cash drawer.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Experience with scheduling and patient communications.
• Proficient with email and common office software.
• Knowledge of practice management and EMR systems (GE Centricity is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Answers the telephone professionally and pleasantly; screens calls and schedules appointments.
• Screens visitors and responds to routine information requests from patients and vendors.
• Maintains front office equipment and supplies.
• Processes faxes and routes electronic files.
• Opens and sorts mail; prepares patient encounters for next day.
• Registers patients and verifies demographics and insurance information.
• Collects payments and explains charges; posts payments and manages payment plans.
